Busy, busy, busy

Holy smokes, it's been crazy around here. Luckily, everyone is healthy (whew). The kids are on Spring Break, and while they are pretty self-sufficient, it throws me off to have them all home all day.

The day job has been keeping me hopping, though I don't mind. :) This week has been particularly busy since I'm headed to my friend Gwen's for a long weekend. I'm trying to get a bit ahead so I don't have to work while I'm gone. I'm so looking forward to the trip and getting away from everyday for a while. And I get to do it with a great friend. Can't beat that.

On the writing front, I'm nearly finished with the next Fey book--this is Leilen's story and turning out quite well, I think. The other manuscript I'm working on is another paranormal--a sheltered, somewhat naive young woman discovers she is a witch and is to play a part in defeating a big bad. She has a bit of trouble accepting it all and controlling her newfound powers. In steps the sexy male witch to help, um...tutor her. LOL There's more to it, of course, but I'll save that for later. :)

Hope everyone's week is going well.

*Dreamy Sigh*

I received the cover for Waters of Fate, the second book in The Fey series. I love it. Here it is...

It looks just how I pictured Neiva in my head. Amazing! What do you think?

Here's the blurb for Waters of Fate, which will be available from Total-E-Bound in May.

As Princess of Fey, Neiva has led a privileged life. When she sees her mate in the Waters of Fate, she is shocked at who Fate has paired her with. When he refuses her again and again, her shock quickly turns to anger.

Rhys has been friends with the King of Fey for centuries. Surely Fate would not be so cruel as to mate him with his friend’s daughter? Never mind that he hears the Song of Souls when she is near—she has mistaken the situation and he must let her down gently.

After yet another denial from Rhys, Neiva decides it’s time to move on. She leaves the Fey Realm and goes to the human world—the world of her mother—determined to find some semblance of happiness. Rhys is given the duty of watching over her while she is there—a task that drives him mad with desire and frustration. But danger has followed Neiva there. Now she is not only in danger of losing her heart, but also her life.

Even fictional men don't listen...

Oy, the man is giving me a headache.

Not the hubby. LOL The hero in the book I'm working on. He doesn't want to cooperate...one iota! Bugger.

The story was flowing quite well tonight (er, last night). Then--BAM--totally hit a wall. The culprit? One sexy, stubborn man. He doesn't want to do what I want him to do, but doesn't want to share what he wants to do. Did any of that make sense?? LOL

Now, my non-writing friends look at me like I'm insane when I say things like that. :-D It's true, though, the characters in my head definitely have their own personalities and sometimes don't trust me to guide them through the story I have in my head.

So, I'm shutting it down for the night and going horizontal for a few hours. Have to be up in 4 hours with the kids--and no chance of a nice nap in there. I have tons to do around the house, plus I have FedEx coming to pick up a package. I had a new cord sent to me for my laptop, and have to send the old, defective one back. The time frame they told me to expect pick up? 9am to 8pm. HELLO???

So, wish me luck with the reluctant hero tomorrow!

Hugs,
~J
